The spread of COVID-19 was and continues to be impacted by social interactions between people which facilitates the trasmission of the virus. 

This video shows the evolution of an outbreak of COVID-19 around Melbourne, Australia. Dots represent COVID-19 positive cases, lines are contacts, and position on the map indicates geographical location.
